One evening, two programs. The open Michael Nyman Band concert, which will take place on 27 June on Malta Festival Poznań, will feature a Polish premiere of War Work: 8 songs with Film, which is a program dedicated to the remembrance of Wold War I, as well as popular pieces of Nyman’s film music repertoire.

In the first part of the concert by Malta Lake we will hear War Work: 8 songs with Film. Fragments of French, German and American World War I archive recordings will be accompanied by a cycle of eight songs composed for the poems of David Bomberg, Isaac Rosenberg and Alfred Lichtenstein, poets of the Great War.

The Baroque Programme: Selection will include all the favourites from Michael Nyman’s music scores. In the second part of the concert the British composer and his band will play music from films by Peter Greenaway such as The Draughtsman’s Contract, Zed and Two Naughts or Making a Splash.

Malta’s anniversary celebrations will start at 22h00 by Malta Lake, from which the festival derives its name. We support the Kultura Dostępna [Accessible Culture] project. The anniversary concert will be open and free of charge!
